QB-PEYTON MANNING (on how special the Green Bay game was to play in) 9/29/04
"It was a fun game to play in, and obviously more fun when you win it. It's kind of hard to think too much about it. If we had a bye week, it might be a little bit different, but when you have the leader in the AFC South this Sunday, it's been pretty easy to refocus."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on if he is surprised Jacksonville is 3-0) 9/29/04
"No, I'm not surprised because they have played good enough to win. The difference between Jacksonville from this year and last year is that they're winning the close games. Last year, they lost a lot of close games. This year, they beat Buffalo on the last drive, Denver fumbled on their last drive and they drove down to win it against Tennessee. So, that's kind of the key to good teams, finding a way to win close games. And we expect a close game this Sunday for sure."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on how Jacksonville has been impressive allowing so few points) 9/29/04
"They have an excellent team and a defense who is certainly impressive. And the best thing they have done is keep teams out of the end zone. Say what you want about they've been good against the run or good against the pass or what not, but ideally, the goal for a defense is to keep (an offense) out of the end zone. Teams have not scored many points against them. That will be the biggest key for us offensively, is finding a way, whether it's trying to run the ball or throw the ball, just finding a way to get it in the end zone. That's a challenge every week, but it will be especially different this Sunday."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on how confident he is in the offense to move the ball) 9/29/04
"Everything is a different challenge, every single week. Obviously the game plan against Green Bay was different because of what Green Bay's defense did. We'll have our game plan this week. You still have to show up every single Sunday and do it. That's why, when you play well against Tennessee or Green Bay, it feels good, because all of the hard work to put into that week, it paid off. But, just because you did it one week doesn't mean you'll do it again the next week."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on the game itself) 9/29/04
"They are undefeated and playing at home. It's an AFC South game, and like (Head Coach) Tony Dungy always says, it counts double. It's a big ballgame."
QB-PEYTON MANNING (on what Jacksonville does well) 9/29/04
"What Jacksonville does the best is execute their defense. They mix up their looks, but they're always in the right spot. I don't think you'll see anybody running wide open down the middle of the field against Jacksonville. They are very sound in what they do and they force the other offenses to be sound. Teams have made mistakes along the way, and Jacksonville's made them pay for it."
