HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if LBs-Gary Brackett and Clint Session cannot play on Sunday what does the linebacker corps look like) Friday, November 12, 2010
"LB-Pat (Angerer) goes in the middle, LB-Tyjuan (Hagler) weakside, (LB-Philip) Wheeler strongside."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on having TEs-Brody Eldridge and Jacob Tamme practicing yesterday) Friday, November 12, 2010
"Just like anything else these days, everything is day-to-day, but that certainly did give us a little bit of relief. TE-Gijon (Robinson) was getting quite a heavy dose of work without those two around. But having them back in the practice setting, getting them some of the work was helpful."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if TE-Jacob Tamme came out of yesterday's practice okay) Friday, November 12, 2010
"It appears that way, but a lot of times they go in, sit in meetings in the morning and by the time you get ready to go to practice, sometimes you're not quite feeling the way you would anticipate. Oftentimes, we might be a little bit more conservative on Friday than we are typically. We'll see how he does today."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on who would be at the tight end and H-Back positions if TE-Jacob Tamme cannot play) Friday, November 12, 2010
"It just depends on who we have available for us. In that particular case, TE-Brody (Eldridge) and TE-Gijon (Robinson) would split the duties. Both of them are capable of doing either one. More than likely, Gijon would be the Y, Brody would be the H. If you had to pin me down that is what it would look like."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on if DB-Antoine Bethea does for the secondary what LB-Gary Brackett does for the front seven) Friday, November 12, 2010
"His job is one where he is the quarterback of the secondary. They all communicate, but he is the lynchpin. He starts it. He begins it. He makes sure everybody is in line. But it ties in with what has been called upfront. Front and coverage have to match up."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on DB-Jerraud Powers saying DB-Antoine Bethea has become more of a vocal leader because of all the injuries the secondary has had this season) Friday, November 12, 2010
"I think that's an accurate description, particularly considering the situation, but he is not one of those guys that talks a whole lot. He is not a real vocal guy, for the most part, but he is on the field. When he has to communicate, he's very direct, he's very decisive, and I also think that comes with experience, as well. He's gained quite a bit of experience over the years and has become, obviously, a very, very important player for us."
HEAD COACH JIM CALDWELL (on DB-Antoine Bethea having a high football intelligence) Friday, November 12, 2010
"You find that those kinds of things are not often coached, they are just instinctive, things that maybe he learned and just had a knack of where to align in relationship to an offensive formation, what to do. He does so many things naturally and instinctively that he sometimes gets an extra little step or jump on a play because of his recognition. He continues to get better and better."
