Colts Put Themselves In Playoff Picture With Win Over Titans

The Indianapolis Colts dug themselves a hole starting the season at 1-5, but after earning their fourth win in a row on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, Indy finds itself tied for the sixth AFC playoff spot entering Week 12.

INDIANAPOLIS — Chill out, Jim Mora. We know it's early yet.

But after starting the season at 1-5, "playoffs" is officially a realistic goal for the Indianapolis Colts in 2018.

The Colts today beat up on the Tennessee Titans, 38-10, at Lucas Oil Stadium, staking claim to their fourth straight win to not only get to .500 on the season at 5-5, but also bullying their way into a five-way tie for the sixth and final playoff spot in the AFC.

As it stands now, the Colts, Titans, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Miami Dolphins are all 5-5 on the year.

If the season ended today, due to tiebreakers, the Ravens would earn that sixth seed — but, as we all know, the season doesn't end today.

In fact, the Colts still play both the Dolphins (next week in Indy) and the Titans (Dec. 30, this time in Nashville) this season, and Indy isn't yet out of the race in the AFC South Division, which is led by the Houston Texans at 7-3.

So what's the difference for the Colts now compared to when they sat at 1-5 not that long ago?

"I think some things are clicking," quarterback Andrew Luck said after today's win. "I do think we can look back and say we are making fewer mistakes. I think we are shooting ourselves in the foot less.

"There are things that are still out there," he continued. "But I think every week we do a little better, every day at practice I think we do a little better. … We'll keep working at it."

Next week's home game against the Dolphins is a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. Click here to get your tickets.
