INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce Larry Brunson, a local Indianapolis, IN resident as this week's 2016 season honoree of the Colts Anthem Angels program, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Brunson will be recognized at the Colts home game this Sunday, September 25, 2016, for his outstanding service to many.
For over 15 years Larry Brunson has worked as a mental health professional specializing in youth with Severe Emotional Disturbance (SED), and has established himself as one of the primary practitioners of hands-on consulting when working with high-risk youth.
Brunson has been a consistent and devoted volunteer at the Coburn Place Safe Haven for the past five years. He volunteers in any aspect he can, and to quote his nominator from the Coburn Place, she states, "We feel privileged to be a tool this volunteer uses to mentor youth and teach them life skills. He uses volunteerism and giving back as a tool of empowerment and support. It's never long before the youth he mentors start bringing in their own donations, or start shaping their own service ideas due to Brunson's influence and investment in their lives."
One teen Brunson worked with specifically stands out in his mind. The teen was headed down the wrong path in life when the two met. Brunson worked to talk and listen to the individual as well as teach him how to be a productive member in the community. Thanks to Brunson's work, changes in attitude and demeanor were noticed, including getting the teen back into school fulltime.
In 2015, Brunson co-founded Advocating Children to Succeed, Inc., a non-profit organization which provides services for at risk youth. He spends most of his days mentoring, intervening, advocating and volunteering.
It is our pleasure to honor our Anthem Angel, Larry Brunson.
In honor of Brunson's heroism, he will receive four (4) VIP Club Seat Tickets to the Colts game, a feature story with his photo in the Colts gameday magazine (the Scout) and on www.colts.com, as well as on-field recognition at the game.
Nominations are currently being accepted for upcoming 2016 home games. For more information about Anthem Angels, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, please visit: www.colts.com/anthemangels.
