Colts Team Up With Indianapolis Indians to Host Book Drive
INDIANAPOLIS - As Hoosiers eagerly await the opening of Lucas Oil Stadium and the start of the 2008 NFL season, the Colts would like to invite fans to join them at another Indianapolis sports venue to support a great cause and enjoy an evening of baseball and family fun.
This Saturday, May 31, the Colts and the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) are teaming up with the Indianapolis Indians to host a book drive at Victory Field before the Indians take on the Toledo Mud Hens. Fans attending the game can drop off new or gently used books at the Colts table located inside Victory Field beginning at 5:30 p.m. Colts Cheerleaders will also be on-hand to sign autographs and distribute a special, limited-edition Colts READ poster to each fan who donates a book.
All books will be used for the Books for Youth program, which was created through a partnership between the Colts and DCS to provide each foster youth in Indiana with a backpack of 25 books. Since its inception in 2006, the Books for Youth campaign has brought in more than 70,000 books, which is enough to provide a backpack of books for every foster child in Marion County. In order to reach the entire State, the Colts and DCS must collect a total of 250,000 books.
Saturday evening Colts OT Tony Ugoh will also be hosting a group of 50 foster youth at the Indians game and will distribute Books for Youth book bags to each of them prior to the start of the game. He is also scheduled to throw out the first pitch at the game.
Be sure to join the Colts this Saturday at Victory Field to enjoy a fun-filled evening and support a great cause! Gates open at 5:30 p.m. with the game starting at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are just $13 for box seats and $9 for reserved, and may be purchased by visiting the Victory Field Box Office at 501 West Maryland Street, online at www.indyindians.com, or by calling Ticketmaster at (317) 239-5151.
