Was claimed off waivers by Colts from Denver on November 12, 2007…originally was D1-96 choice (third overall selection) of Arizona…signed as unrestricted free agent with Tampa Bay on March 23, 2001…was placed on reserve/injured with shoulder injury on November 22, 2006…was waived on July 27, 2007…signed as FA with Denver on September 4, 2007…was waived on November 9, 2007.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:  Enters 2007 with 584 career tackles, 394 solo, 121 sacks (771 yards), 5-48 interceptions, 58 passes defensed, 37 FF and eight FR…has totaled second-most sacks among active players and ranks 13th in league history with 121 sacks…posted eight seasons with 10+ sacks, fifth-most in league annals…played on Tampa Bay’s 2002 Super Bowl XXXVII championship team…posted a single-game career-high four sacks at Washington on Oct. 12, 2003.

2006:  Started eight games and was inactive at Car. 11/13 and vs. Washington 11/19 before being placed on injured reserve with shoulder injury 11/22…led team with four FF…recorded 21 tackles, 15 solo, 2-15 sacks and one pass defensed…totaled four tackles and one FF in season opener vs. Bal. 9/10…had four solo tackles, one sacks and two FF vs. Car. 9/24…had two tackles at New Orleans 10/8…had four tackles, two solo vs. Cin. 10/15…added three solo stops, one sack fumble and one pass defensed at NYG 10/29…was declared inactive at Car. 11/13, marking the first time in his career he missed a contest because of injury.

2004: Started 16 games and registered 51 tackles, 33 solo, 12-71 sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defensed…posted 100th and 101st sacks of career vs. Atlanta 12/5 to become 22nd player in NFL history with 100+ career sacks…reached double-digit sack totals for fourth consecutive season and seventh time in career…12 sacks led team and tied for fifth in the NFL…was part of defense that finished season ranked fifth in the NFL in total defense, marking third consecutive season the unit ranked in the top five…posted first seasonal sack at Oakland 9/26…had three tackles and one sack at St. Louis 10/18…totaled three tackles, two solo, and two sacks vs. Chi. 10/24…had three stops and one sack at Atlanta 11/14…registered five tackles, three solo, vs. San Francisco 11/21…totaled five tackles, three solo, and one sack—the 99th of his career—at Carolina 11/28…had two sacks and one FF in shutout vs. Atlanta 12/5 to reach and eclipse 100-sack plateau…shutout was ninth in franchise history and first of season…registered four tackles, three solo at San Diego 12/12…had eight tackles, six solo, and three sacks vs. New Orleans 12/19…marked third seasonal multi-sack game and 30th of career.

Was two-time All-America choice at Illinois…had 45 career quarterback sacks, surpassing the previous mark of 23 by Scott Davis (1983-87)…also broke Big Ten Conference sack record of 36 by Michigan's Mark Messner (1985-88)…had 12 sacks as senior…recorded school-record 16 sacks as junior and was consensus All-America choice…had five sacks vs. Washington…holds degree in speech communications.

Full name is Simeon Rice…born in Chicago, Ill….attended Mt. Carmel High School…was all-state choice…was teammate of QB-Donovan McNabb at Mt. Carmel…helped lead team to 26-2 mark and pair of Illinois 5-A titles…was named honorary coach during the University of Illinois' annual Orange and Blue Spring Game during the 2007 offseason…in 2004, launched a performance apparel company called T3K-Thermal 3000, a clothing line of insulating garments to keep athletes warm in cold weather…was active in several community endeavors in Tampa Bay, and provided Thanksgiving dinners to 50 families of the University Area Community Center Complex in 2004…also teamed with The FairPlay Foundation, The University Area Community Development Corporation, Inc. and Buchanan Middle School, to host The Simeon Rice Back-2-School Workout program for 50 at-risk youth at the University Center Complex in Tampa in 2004…distributes turkeys each Thanksgiving to Tampa Bay Area families at the Children's Cancer Center…also holds an annual toy drive at the Rainbow Center, a center for abused children, during the Christmas season…in first visit back to his hometown of Chicago, organized a charitable event prior to the Buccaneers' game against the Bears in 2001 to benefit Chicago Fire Fighters Union 911 Fund and the police department's "Widows and Orphans Fund" of New York.
