Signed as FA with Colts on November 20, 2007...originally was D4a-03 choice of New England, the 117th choice overall...was waived on September 2, 2006...was claimed off waivers by Colts from New England on September 3, 2006…was waived on November 17, 2007.

CAREER NOTES

2007:  Appeared in eight games as reserve DL…had 10 tackles, seven solo, and one sack…was inactive for first six games and vs. Jacksonville 12/2…was waived prior to game 11/18 vs. Kansas City and re-signed following week…had two assisted stops at Carolina 10/28…had two solo tackles and one sack at Baltimore 12/9…had one solo stop at Oakland 12/16 and two tackles vs. Houston 12/23…had seasonal-high three solo tackles vs. Tennessee 12/30.  POST-SEASON:  Was inactive for Divisional Playoffs vs. San Diego 1/13.

2006:  Versatile veteran who appeared in 10 games…saw action as DT, special teamer and FB in short-yardage situations…had seven tackles, five solo, and was 1-2, 1 TD receiving…saw action in games 1-3, 7-11 and 15-16…was inactive games 4-6 and 12-14…had two tackles vs. Houston 9/17…had one tackle at Denver 10/29 and vs. Buffalo 11/12…had three solo tackles at Houston 12/24…had 2t reception from QB-Peyton Manning vs. Miami 12/31…marked 1st career TD reception and 4th career reception.  POST-SEASON:  Appeared vs. Kansas City 1/6 in Wild Card Playoffs, at Baltimore 1/13 in Divisional Playoffs, vs. New England 1/21 in AFC Championship Game and vs. Chicago 2/4 in Super Bowl XLI…had one tackle and was 1-1, 1 TD receiving vs. New England…third-quarter TD reception led to 21-21 tie as club erased 21-3 second-quarter deficit.  2005:  Appeared in 10 games as reserve DL and FB…totaled eight tackles, five solo, and 0.5 sack…had two stops and 0.5 sack at Denver 10/16…had two solo stops vs. Buffalo 10/30 and three tackles vs. Miami 1/1.  POST-SEASON:  Was inactive vs. Jacksonville 1/7 and at Denver 1/14.  2004:  Started two of six games at FB and was reserve on offense, defense and special teams in four other outings…saw action on defense on DL and at LB…was placed on injured reserve 10/31…was 3-18 receiving and had three special teams stop…started at FB at Buffalo 10/3 and vs. NYJ 10/24…was 1-11 receiving vs. Seattle 10/17 and 2-7 vs. NYJ.  2003:  Saw action in 13 games as rookie, including one start at DT at Denver 11/3…had 14 tackles, eleven solo, 1.5 sacks and one special teams stops…also was 2-5 rushing and 2-10.0 KOR avg.…had first career sack 9/28 at Washington and also had blocked FG…had three solo stops, all for losses, vs. Tennessee 10/5…was 1-5 rushing vs. NYG 10/12…had one stop and 0.5 sack vs. Cleveland 10/26…had FR at Indianapolis 11/30.  POST-SEASON:  Saw action as reserve vs. Tennessee 1/10 and was inactive vs. Indianapolis 1/18 and in Super Bowl victory against Carolina 2/1.

Four-year letterman who started  36 of 40 games and had 206 tackles, 142 solo, 66 stops for losses, 26 sacks and 70 QB pressures…was named Big East Defensive Player-of-the-Year as senior…had 68 tackles, 36 solo, 23 stops for losses, 10 sacks and four FF…was unanimous All-Big East choice as junior, the first player in school history to earn unanimous accolades…had 62 tackles, 40 solo, 20 stops for losses and 6.5 sacks…was Big East Player-of-the-Week for efforts against Rutgers and Syracuse…started five of eight games as sophomore…had 21 stops, 17 solo, seven stops for losses and 1.5 sacks…started nine of 10 games as freshman…had 53 tackles, 39 solo, 16 stops for losses and eight sacks…was Freshman All-America choice by Football News and The Sporting News…majored in physical education.

PERSONAL

Full name is Dan Klecko…born in Colts Neck, N.J.…attended Marlboro High School…was three-year letter winner at DE and FB…set school records with 107 solo stops and 28 sacks…played in New Jersey North/South All-Star game…was two-time all-district, all-county and all-shore choice…was senior team captain and had 100 tackles and six sacks…had 95 tackles and 16 sacks as junior…father, Joe, was All-American defensive lineman at Temple (1973-76) and All-Pro with NYJ and also played for Colts (1988)…single…resides in Colts Neck, N.J.
