Colts Place Rookie Cornerback on Injured Reserve
INDIANAPOLIS – The rookie season of Colts cornerback Dante Hughes is over.
Hughes, a third-round selection in the 2007 NFL Draft from the University of California, sustained a shoulder injury in the Colts’ Thanksgiving Night game against the Atlanta Falcons. Indianapolis placed him on injured reserve Thursday, ending his season.
The Colts signed Keiwan Ratliff to the active roster.
Hughes, who played as a reserve nickel back in 10 games this season, finished his rookie season with 10 tackles, including seven solos, and also had one pass defensed.
He had 10 tackles on special teams.
Ratliff, a fourth-year NFL veteran, was waived on Wednesday by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after signing with the Buccaneers on November 12.
Ratliff, originally a second-round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft by Cincinnati, played three seasons for the Bengals before being waived in September.
He has played 48 games in three seasons with three interceptions and 12 passes defensed. He also has returned 72 punts for a 7.5-yard average.
