Peyton Manning Named Finalist for Player-of-the-Week Honor
INDIANAPOLIS – Colts Quarterback Peyton Manning has been named a finalist for FedEx Air NFL Player-of-the-Week honors, the NFL announced on Tuesday. Fans can vote for winners on NFL.com/FedEx from 9 a.m. (ET) on Tuesday through noon (ET) on Friday to determine the Players-of-the-Week.

Manning helped lead the Colts to a 35-34 comeback victory Sunday night against New England. Manning completed 28-of-44 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns with two interceptions. Sunday’s victory marked the Colts’ 18th regular-season win in a row dating to last season, tied for the second-longest streak in NFL history.

Manning and the Colts on Sunday night accomplished a number of other milestones:

-The Colts became the first team in NFL history to start 9-0 three times in a five-season span.

-Manning led the Colts to their third consecutive fourth-quarter comeback victory. Manning’s one-yard touchdown pass to Reggie Wayne with 13 seconds left marked his 40th career fourth-quarter or overtime game-winning drive.

-Manning and Wayne connected on their 58th and 59th career touchdown passes, surpassing Brett Favre and Antonio Freeman (57) for sixth-most touchdown connections by a duo in NFL history.

-Manning threw for more than 300 yards for a club-record eighth time this season.

-Manning (126 career wins) passed Fran Tarkenton (125) for fourth-most career starting wins in NFL history.

-Manning threw for his 350th career touchdown pass in his 185th career game Sunday night, tying Dan Marino for the fastest pace to the mark.

-Manning became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for 300 touchdowns in a single decade.

-Manning now has thrown for at least 20 touchdown passes in all 12 NFL seasons, tying Brett Favre for the most consecutive seasons with 20 or more touchdown passes.

-Manning recorded his 19th career game with four or more touchdown passes, third-most in NFL history.

Fans will be voting for more than their favorite player. As part of the Air & Ground program, FedEx continues its support of Safe Kids USA – a national non-profit organization that works to prevent accidental injury among children – by making weekly $1,000 donations in the winning players’ names. The funding, allocated to local Safe Kids coalitions in that team’s city, is used for pedestrian safety improvements throughout the year, from upgraded crosswalks and street signage to traffic barriers and educational training.

Also nominated for Air Player-of-the-Week honors were Minnesota’s Brett Favre and Arizona’s Kurt Warner.
