Indianapolis Social Worker Honored As Anthem Angel This Past Sunday
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indianapolis Colts are proud to announce a resident of Indianapolis, Ind. as a 2009 honoree of the Anthem Angels program, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Kristi Montgomery was recognized at the Colts home game on Sunday, November 15, for her outstanding contribution to the community.

Kristi, nominated by Shawn Carney, has been a Social Worker for the past 14 years helping Hoosiers affected with HIV and AIDS.

For the past 14 years, Kristi Montgomery has worked for Hoosiers affected by HIV and AIDS. She worked at the Damien Center in Indianapolis, helping people with AIDS find doctors willing to treat them, locating landlords willing to rent to them, and getting them medicines that they needed to stay alive. After working with adults, Kristi began to work closely with children and their families affected by HIV. One of her fondest memories is of a young client who she was able to take to his first movie at the age of 9, watching him be happy, laugh and not think about being sick. Currently, Kristi is the HIV Care Coordination Program manager for the entire state of Indiana. She has been called both an inspiration and an angel to those people of Indiana living with HIV.

In honor of Kristi’s heroism, she received four (4) VIP Club Seat Tickets to the Colts game, a feature story with her photo in the Colts gameday magazine (the Scout) and on www.colts.com, as well as recognition on-field recognition at the game.

“Anthem Angels…Honoring Everyday Heroes” was established by the Indianapolis Colts and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield to pay tribute to Hoosier “First Respondents” who may have received little or no recognition for the strides they have made to help others in human-service related professions.

Nominations are still being accepted for upcoming 2009 home games. For more information about Anthem Angels, presented by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, please visit www.colts.com/anthemangels.
