Video Highlights: John Simon

Intro: The Indianapolis Colts on Friday announced the signing of outside linebacker John Simon. Check out the former Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens’ pass rusher’s highlights.

INDIANAPOLIS — “He’s a guy that personifies doing your job.”

If that doesn’t scream a Chuck Pagano-type player, what does?

That quote, from Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien, is referring to outside linebacker John Simon, whom the Indianapolis Colts signed off the free agent market on Friday.

Simon found quite a niche on the Texans’ defense the past three seasons as a quality run stopper for one of the top defenses in the league, but has also stepped up his pass-rush game the past two seasons, collecting a combined 8.5 sacks in 2015 and 2016, despite missing five games last year with a chest injury.

And, to keep going with the “doing your job” theme, Simon has also splashed on special teams throughout his career with the Baltimore Ravens — who picked him in the fourth round of the 2013 draft — and the Texans.

Finally, of course, Pagano and the Colts got plenty of up-close-and-personal looks at Simon’s game the past three seasons as a divisional rival, and the sixth-year head coach was happy to get him on the Colts’ sideline moving forward.

“John is a smart, physical player who will make an impact immediately on our team,” Pagano said in the team’s press release announcing the signing. “We witnessed his success in Houston and now I look forward to seeing him wear the horseshoe. He will be a great addition.”
