GAME RELEASE: Kansas City Chiefs vs Indianapolis Colts

Colts host Chiefs in AFC Wild Card Playoff

The No. 4 seed Indianapolis Colts (11-5) will host the No. 5 seed Kansas City Chiefs (11-5) in an AFC Wild Card Playoff matchup on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 4:35 p.m. on NBC.

Saturday’s game will feature a rematch of the teams’ Week 16 contest in which the Colts were victorious, 23-7.

In the regular season finale last week, the Colts defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 30-10, for their third straight victory to close the season. Outside linebacker Robert Mathis recorded 2.0 sacks and finished the year with a franchise record and league-leading 19.5 quarterback takedowns. Kicker Adam Vinatieri totaled 12 points and became the seventh player in NFL history to score 2,000 career points. Wide receiver T.Y. Hilton notched his first 1,000-yard receiving season after posting career highs of 11 catches for 155 yards.

The Chiefs fell to the San Diego Chargers in overtime last week, 27-24. Kansas City finished the year tied for sixth in points scored per game (26.9) and tied for fifth in points allowed per game (19.1). Running back Jamaal Charles led the team in rushing and receiving, rushing 259 times for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns on the ground, while also catching 70 passes for 693 yards and seven touchdowns. Quarterback Alex Smith completed 308-of-508 passes for 3,313 yards, 23 touchdowns, seven interceptions and an 89.1 passer rating. Defensively, Tamba Hali and Justin Houston tallied 11.0 sacks apiece.
