New England 43, Colts 22

 

FOURTH QUARTER UPDATE

 

Luck was incomplete to Hilton on first down.  From the gun, Fleener had an eight-yard reception to bring up a third-and-short.  Luck and Fleener hit for two yards and a first down at the two-minute warning.  Luck hit Whalen for nine yards on first down.  Luck was not able to connect with Rogers on second down.  Luck on third-and-one was sacked after double-pumping.  On fourth-and-six, Luck converted the first down with a completion to Whalen.  Luck was incomplete to Rogers on first down.  Brown hit for 16 yards up the middle.  Luck was intercepted by Dennard on first down with 37 seconds left.  New England drained the remaining time.  New England 43, Colts 22.

 

Blount ran left for eight yards to start the possession.  On second-and-two, Blount was trapped for a one-yard loss.  On third-and-three, Brady hit Amendola for a first down on a diving sideline catch.  Blount gained short yardage on first down.  Brady hit Edelman for seven yards to bring up a third-and-one.  Blount picked up the first down to keep the clock running.  From the NE 42, Blount burst off the left side for 30 yards.  Ridley then hit off the right side for 10 yards.  Blount hit for three yards.  On second down, Blount was hit for a three-yard loss.  From the gun, Brady strip-sacked by Mathis, but NE recovered at the 26.  Gostkowski punted for a touchback with 2:34 left.

 

After a touchback, Luck hit Fleener for nine yards.  From the gun, Luck was incomplete to Brazill on the right sideline.  On third-and-one, Luck from the gun missed Whalen in the right flat.  New England started at its 26 after the McAfee punt.

 

From the Colts’ 18, Brady rolled right and threw the ball away.  On second down, Brady on play-action was nearly picked off by Antoine Bethea in the end zone.  On third down, Brady hit Austin Collie for a first down at the Colts’ three.  On first down, Ridley swept left to the one.  Ridley scored from a yard out to end the drive.  New England 43, Colts 22.

 

After a false start, Indianapolis was first-and-15 from its 15 and Luck was intercepted by Jamie Collins, who returned the pick to the Colts’ 18.

 

On first down, Blount burst 73 yards for a touchdown.  New England 36, Colts 22.

 

Brown picked up the first down to start the quarter, then gained one yard to the 25.  On second-and-nine, Luck was tripped up for a one-yard sack.  On third-and-10, Luck was incomplete looking for Brazill.  McAfee punted 58 yards to make NE start at its 27.

 

THIRD QUARTER UPDATE

 

Brown ran for four yards to start the drive and end the quarter.

 

On first down, Brady was incomplete to Thompkins.  On second-and-10, Ridley burst for nine yards off right guard.  On third-and-inches, the Colts stacked up James Develin in a tight formation to force a punt.  Gostkowski punted 52 yards and after losing three yards on the return, the Colts started at their 12.

 

Luck in the gun, handed to Brown for two yards.  From the gun, Luck was sacked with pressure up the middle, an eight-yard loss.  On third-and-16, Luck was incomplete while looking for Whalen.  McAfee punted 58 yards inside the NE 20 and after an Edelman return, the Patriots started at their 24.

 

After a touchback, Brady under center gave to Blount for seven yards.  Blount was stopped by Kelvin Sheppard on second down for no gain.  On third-and-three, Brady from the gun was hit as he threw and was incomplete.  Gostkowski punted to the Colts’ 30, where Whalen fair caught the kick.

 

After a touchback, Luck from the gun handed to Richardson for a yard loss on first down, a delayed sweep.  From the gun, Luck hit Hilton deep behind coverage to the NE 35, 46 yards.  Luck then hit Brazill 35 yards for the score.  New England 29, Colts 22.

 

After a kickoff return by Blount, NE started at its 12.  Brady on play-action hit Amendola for 53 yards to the Colts’ 35.  Ridley ran for three yards on first down.  Brady was incomplete on second down.  On third-and-seven, Brady scrambled from big pressure and hit Edelman for eight yards.  Ridley ran for two yards on first down.  Under center, Brady shook off contact from Robert Mathis and threw incomplete to save a loss.  On third-and-eight, from the gun, Brady looked for Edelman and Indianapolis was flagged for interference.  New England was on the Colts’ five after the penalty.  On first down, Brady threw the ball away with nobody open.  Ridley on second effort gained two yards up the middle.  Under center, Brady handed to Ridley, who pounded off right tackle for the touchdown.  Going for two points, Brady under center gave to Ridley off left tackle for the conversion.  New England 29, Colts 15.

 

From his 37, Luck handed to Brown for three yards.  From the gun, Luck under pressure had to dump the ball off.  On third-and-seven, Luck scrambled and hit Hilton on a double-cut deep for 40 yards.  On first down, Luck hit Fleener to the NE four.  Under center, Luck handed to Brown up the middle for one yard.  Richardson picked up nothing on second down.  On third-and-goal, Luck under center missed Fleener on a fade route to force a field goal.  Vinatieri hit a 21-yard FG to end the drive.  New England 21, Colts 15.

 

After a touchback, Blount ran for two yards.  Brady hit Michael Hoomanawanui for short yards, bringing up third-and-two.  From the gun, Brady missed Vereen on a short pass, a three-and-out – NE’s third and second straight.  Stephen Gostkowski punted to the Colts’ 37.

 

SECOND QUARTER UPDATE

 

Brown ran for short yards on first down and the first half ended.

 

From his 41 with three timeouts, Brady handed to Ridley for five yards.  NE took a timeout.  Vereen lost one yard on second down.  On third-and-six from the gun, Brady missed Vereen out of the backfield with 51 seconds left.  Colts have two timeouts.  Allen punted to Whalen at the Colts’ seven, and Whalen returned the kick to the 16 with 37 seconds left.

 

Starting from his 28 after the punt, Luck went deep to Brazill and was incomplete.  Luck was under pressure and the pass hung high.  From the shotgun, Brown swept left for no gain to reach the two-minute warning.  On third-and-10, Luck hit Hilton for a first down at the Colts’ 44, 16 yards.  Indianapolis was flagged for illegal man downfield, NE declined, second-and-10.  Luck hit Whalen for a first down at the NE 39.  Luck from the gun hit Havili, who batted the ball in the air and was picked off by Dont’a Hightower with 1:14 left.

 

Andy Studebaker is questionable to return with a neck injury.

 

After a return reached the 25, Blount ran for eight yards to start the drive.  Blount then hit up the middle for eight more yards to the 41.  Under center, Brady handed to Blount for four yards.  Brady hit Edelman short of the first down with a good tackle by Butler to force a third-and-two.  The Colts stacked up Blount for no gain to bring up fourth down.  The punt snap went over Allen’s head and bounced back inside the NE five.  Allen could not secure the ball and it was batted through the end zone for a safety with 2:18 left in the quarter.  New England 21, Colts 12.

 

From the 20 after a touchback, Luck from the gun handed to Brown for three yards.  Luck hit Fleener on the right sideline, and Fleener took the pass to the NE 48, a gain of 29 yards.  Brown burst up the middle for seven yards.  Going up-tempo, Luck scrambled for the first down to the NE 36, five yards.  From the gun, Brown gained two yards off the left side.  Staying up-tempo, Luck dumped short to Brown to bring up a third-and-five.  Luck from the gun hit Whalen on a short crossing pass for a first down at the NE 22.  Luck hit Stanley Havili just across the scrimmage line for a four-yard gain.  Staying in the gun and up-tempo, Luck handed to Brown for no gain.  On third-and-six, Luck was incomplete looking for Hilton.  Adam Vinatieri hit a 36-yard field goal to end the drive.  New England 21, Colts 10.

 

Vereen dodged off left guard for eight yards to bring up a third-and-one.  Under center, Brady gave to Blount for short yardage and a first down.  From his 48, Brady under center hit Edelman for short yardage and Edelman broke three tackles to get the Colts’ 25, 27 yards.  In the no-huddle, Brady was incomplete on first down to Kenbrell Thompkins, then was incomplete to        Amendola.  On third-and-10, Brady hit Edelman for a first down to the Colts’ 11.  Vereen ran left for two yards on first down.  On second down, Ridley ran for five yards.  Brady from the gun handed to Vereen up the middle to the Colts’ two.  Blount ended the drive with a two-yard dive, his third score.  It was a 14-play, 75-yard drive.  New England 21, Colts 7.

 

FIRST QUARTER UPDATE

 

Ridley ran up the middle for four yards on first down, then gained three on a second-down rush.  Brady from the gun handed to Vereen for a first down up the middle, a gain of five yards.  Ridley gained one yard on first down to end the period.

 

Luck from his 27 from the gun was incomplete to Rogers at midfield.  Rogers could not secure the catch.  Luck from the gun handed to Trent Richardson, who spun for two yards.  On third-and-eight, Luck was incomplete to Fleener on the sideline, deep, with tight coverage.  McAfee punted short and after a NE penalty, the Pats started at their 25.

 

After a touchback, Brady from the gun was incomplete under pressure and Darius Butler pressured Amendola.  Stevan Ridley ran for short yardage on second down.  On third-and-eight, Brady from the gun was sacked by Erik Walden.  After a 55-yard punt by Ryan Allen, the Colts started on their 27.

 

After a touchback, Luck from the gun handed to Brown up the middle for seven yards.  From the gun, Luck was pressured and was incomplete.  On third-and-short, Luck hit Coby Fleener for a first down at the Colts’ 26, nine yards.  Brown ran for four yards on first down.  Up-tempo, Luck from the gun was incomplete to Da’Rick Rogers.  Luck from the gun hit Griff Whalen to the NE 38, with Whalen getting yards after the catch.  From the 38, Luck went deep to Brazill, who beat Dennard and scored on a perfect pass by Luck.  New England 14, Colts 7.

 

Blount ran up the middle for four yards to start the drive.  Blount then gained one yard.  On third-and-five, Tom Brady from the gun hit Shane Vereen in the left flat for 13 yards.  Blount hit the middle for one yard.  Brady hit Julian Edelman on a crossing route, and Edelman took the pass 25 yards to the Colts’ 30.  Blount hit for four yards on first down, then Brady hit Vereen on a screen pass to three yards to bring up a third-and-three.  Brady hit Danny Amendola on a crossing route that clicked to the Colts’ 7, 16 yards.  Blount hit the middle to the two-yard line, then he scored off left tackle to complete the 74-yard drive.  New England 14, Colts 0.

 

After a touchback, Luck from the gun gave to Brown up the middle for two yards.  Up-tempo from the gun, Luck was pressured and missed Doyle in the right flat.  On third-and-seven, Luck from the gun hit T.Y. Hilton and was stopped for a one-yard gain.  Pat McAfee punted 56 yards and after a penalty on the return, New England started at its 26.

 

After a touchback, Andrew Luck hit Jack Doyle for a seven-yard completion.  Going up-tempo, Donald Brown gained one yard.  Luck was intercepted on third down looking for LaVon Brazill, with Alfonzo Dennard returning the pick to the Colts’ two.  On first down, LaGarrette Blount scored on a two-yard rush.  New England 7, Colts 0.

 

Indianapolis won the coin toss and elected to receive.
