Anthony Walker Among Three Out For Jaguars Game

Posted Oct 20, 2017

Intro: Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said Friday that rookie inside linebacker Anthony Walker (hamstring) will be out on Sunday, when the Colts take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Indy.

INDIANAPOLIS — The good news for the Indianapolis Colts is that, week-by-week, their injury report seems to have fewer and fewer players listed.

The other side of the coin, however, is that a few key injured players still remain.

Head coach Chuck Pagano on Friday announced that three players — inside linebacker Anthony Walker, quarterback Andrew Luck and running back Robert Turbin — have each been ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Walker, a rookie, has been battling a hamstring injury since the team’s Week 1 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. He recovered in time for the Colts’ Week 5 game against the San Francisco 49ers, but re-aggravated the injury and hasn’t practiced since.

Luck, meanwhile, has continued to work his way back to the field after undergoing surgery to his right throwing shoulder in January. While he was able to be a limited participant in practice each of the last two weeks, general manager Chris Ballard said Wednesday that Luck, who was experiencing soreness in his right shoulder, would get a cortisone injection and be held out of practice this week.

Turbin, meanwhile, suffered a left elbow injury in the fourth quarter of Monday night’s game against the Tennessee Titans. While Pagano acknowledged on Tuesday that Turbin’s season was “probably over,” he said on Friday that the sixth-year veteran was going to get a second opinion on the injury on Monday, and then the team would make a related roster move.

While the Colts have three other running backs — Frank Gore, Marlon Mack and Matt Jones — currently on their active roster, Pagano said there’s a chance the team could sign second-year running back Josh Ferguson, who spent his entire rookie season last year with the Colts, from the practice squad to the active roster at some point before Sunday’s game.
