We realize that teachers strive every day to find creative ways of engaging students. The Hoosier Horsepower Program has been developed to help meet this challenge. Our goal is to provide fun, grade level, standards-based lesson plans which are easily integrated into the classroom.
The Indiana Corn Marketing Council and the Indiana Soybean Alliance have developed a partnership with the Indianapolis Colts to provide a unique way for teachers to present educational material. Dallas Clark, the Colts' record-setting tight end, is the spokesperson for the Hoosier Horsepower Program. The lesson plans focus on Biofuels in the context of their impact on the environment, economy, and energy security, as well as how they can benefit our state. We have accumulated autographed items and other prizes which will help you achieve your classroom goals. Some upper level students can even earn scholarships!
Among the several reasons teachers will choose to utilize these lessons plans are:
The popularity of the Colts and Dallas Clark.
The opportunity to win prizes for their students, school and classrooms.
The chance to learn more about the impact farming has on our state and its economy.
The chance to discuss important issues facing future generations, such as the environment and energy independence.
A fun break from the traditional school day.
The opportunity for participating teachers to apply for grants.
Whatever your reason, we think you will find that the Hoosier Horsepower Program is an effective and exciting way to engage and educate your students!
