Breast Cancer Awareness

BRIEFLY: The Indianapolis Colts are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness during the month of October.

To commemorate national Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Colts are joining the NFL's national "A Crucial Catch" initiative to encourage their fans to join them in recognizing survivors and raising awareness for this disease that threatens the lives of millions of women each year.

Below is additional information on the way the Colts and our partners, including the American Cancer Society, the 2012 Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee, IU Health and Zeta Tau Alpha, are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month as we continue to search for a cure.

EVENTS THIS MONTH

Pink Monday
Monday, October 3, 2011
Ohio Street Basin on the Downtown Canal
To kickoff Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Colts will host a FREE Pink Monday event on October 3 at the Ohio Street Basin on the Canal in Downtown Indianapolis. This event will run from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. and will include live music, free limited edition Colts Pink Posters, Colts Cheerleaders and Blue, $5 lunches provided by O’Charley’s, the “Pinking of the Canal, and more! The Indianapolis Colts Women’s Organization will also have special edition Colts “pink” hats available for sale with all proceeds benefiting the IU Simon Cancer Center.

Breast Cancer Awareness Game

The Indianapolis Colts are dedicating their October 9 game at Lucas Oil Stadium to Breast Cancer Awareness. At this game we will have a variety of “pink” elements including:

- Pink Gameday Program Cover
- Recognition of 100 breast cancer survivors on the field
- Pink cards for fans to hold up during kickoff
- Limited edition Colts “pink” hats for sale by the Indianapolis Colts Women’s - Organization ($20 each with all proceeds benefiting the IU Simon Cancer Center)
- National anthem sung by a breast cancer survivor
- Colts Cheerleaders and Blue in pink apparel
- Pink ribbon passout, presented by Zeta Tau Alpha
- Inflatable Pink Ribbon in the Colts Fan Zone, compliments of IU Health
- Honorary Coin Toss Captain Dr. George Sledge, world-renowned pioneer in breast cancer treatment at IU Simon Cancer Center.
